Meet Aggie
She may be easy to overlook as “just another black dog”. But spend a little time with Aggie and you'll wonder how anyone could overlook her at all.
Around the rescue, she's known as our beautiful black princess, Aggie is approximately 4 years old, with a wonderfully gentle nature, a huge heart and an enormous amount of affection waiting for a family of her own.
Her story before rescue is a difficult one, Aggie was found in a place where eight dogs had been living. Tragically, by the time help arrived, Aggie was the only one still alive.
There was no question about leaving her there, she was brought to safety, and since then we've had the privilege of discovering the lovely girl behind that story.
Personality
Aggie is calm, affectionate and wonderfully sociable, she loves people and enjoys the company of other dogs too. She's the kind of girl who simply seems happy to be included, whether that's spending time with her humans or sharing her world with four-legged friends.
Aggie could happily live with compatible resident dogs, but she certainly doesn't need canine company to be content. She'd be equally pleased to be the only dog in the home and receive all that family attention herself. Princess privileges, obviously.
Since coming into rescue, Aggie has discovered something rather wonderful: Dinner arrives every single day. After previously living with uncertainty around food, she's embraced this particular aspect of rescue life with considerable enthusiasm, and has acquired a little extra padding along the way!
She's currently carrying some additional weight, so her new family will need to help her reach and maintain a healthy weight through appropriate portions, regular exercise and a good routine. We're fairly confident Aggie won't consider the portion-control element of this arrangement to be an improvement.
Aggie's perfect home
Aggie doesn't need anything extraordinary, she needs people who will love having a gentle, affectionate dog around. Regular walks, a comfortable place to sleep, companionship, and the security of knowing that tomorrow's meal, despite what Aggie may tell you, is definitely coming.
Her past is an important part of her story, but it isn't the most interesting thing about her.
The most interesting thing is the beautiful girl who survived it, came out the other side still loving people, and is now waiting for somebody to notice her.
Our black princess survived when the odds were against her. Now we'd really like to see her live like a princess too.
