Meet Amber
For a long time, Amber waited near the airport with three little lives depending on her. Now it's her turn to be looked after.
Amber was found roaming around the area near the Macedonian airport with her three puppies. Life on the streets had taught her to survive, but now she wasn't surviving just for herself, she stayed close to the same area, doing everything she could to find food, keep her puppies safe and make it through another day.
We couldn't leave them there.
Amber and her babies were brought into rescue, given the veterinary care they needed and finally had somewhere safe to recover and grow stronger, and when Amber came into our care, she was given a new name to mark the beginning of something new, a life where she would finally be safe, seen and cared for.
Personality
Amber is now around 5 years old and is a medium-to-large, Shepherd-sized girl, she's intelligent and thoughtful, with the kind of resilience that comes from having learned how to look after herself.
On the streets, Amber survived by being cautious and avoiding trouble, particularly around bigger dogs. Those experiences have understandably shaped how she feels about other dogs today, and she can be wary around them. For that reason, Amber is looking for a home where she can be the only resident pet, allowing her to relax and enjoy her family without the pressure of sharing her space with another animal.
Amber can live with children, although we feel a home with older children would be most appropriate for her.
Amber's perfect home
After spending so much of her life having to look after herself, and then her puppies, we'd love Amber to experience what it's like to have someone looking after her. She needs a secure, loving home with people who will understand her history, respect her boundaries and give her the time she needs to settle.
No more searching for food, no more keeping watch over three little puppies no more wondering where she'll be safe. Just walks, affection, security and the chance to become someone's much-loved companion.
Amber spent so long making sure her puppies survived. Now it's time for this beautiful mum to discover a life that's finally about her.
