Meet Grace
Grace isn't looking for a whirlwind romance, she'd much prefer a quiet life, a comfortable sofa and someone lovely to share it with.
Grace is an approximately 6-year-old, large Hound mix with a wonderfully calm, gentle nature, she originally came into care through a street-dog neutering programme. Dogs brought in through these programmes are often returned to their familiar territory after recovering, but Grace was different. She was so relaxed around people and so comfortable receiving care that the rescue felt she deserved the opportunity to find a home.
We don't know whether Grace had a family before she was found, what we do know is that she's a lovely, gentle girl who seems very well suited to a quieter kind of family life.
Personality
Grace is calm, affectionate and wonderfully easygoing, she enjoys cuddles and human company, but she's equally happy having a little peace and quiet. She's not a dog who needs to be at the centre of everything. A comfortable place to relax, a garden to explore and some lovely walks would suit Grace beautifully, and speaking of walks, she walks beautifully on the lead.
Grace has a settled, gentle nature and would be happiest in a home where life moves at a pace she can enjoy.
Grace isn't particularly keen on boisterous dogs, she much prefers the company of calmer, more mature dogs who share her relaxed approach to life. She could potentially live with a compatible resident dog of a similar temperament, provided introductions are gradual and carefully managed.
Grace has also encountered cats at the shelter and has largely ignored them, those cats have left her alone, however, so this doesn't yet tell us how she would respond to a cat approaching her or sharing her living space. Any potential home with cats would need further assessment and careful introductions.
Because Grace appreciates a peaceful environment, we would particularly welcome applications from adult-only households or families with children aged 13+. A home with younger children could also be considered if the household is calm and the children are able to respect Grace's need for space and quiet.
Grace's perfect home
Grace would love a home where she can enjoy the simple pleasures, a comfortable sofa, a garden to potter around in, gentle walks with plenty of interesting smells, affection when she wants it, and somewhere peaceful to relax when she doesn't.
She doesn't need a household full of activity or excitement to be happy, she needs people who appreciate a quieter companion and understand that a dog can be deeply affectionate without wanting attention every moment of the day.
Grace came into care through a programme that would ordinarily have seen her return to the streets. Instead, she was given the chance to find something different.
A peaceful home, a favourite place to curl up and people who love her just as she is.
