Meet Lisa
Lisa was someone's pet once. But she never knew what being a much-loved family dog was supposed to feel like.
When we think of a pet, we imagine sofa cuddles, lovely walks, adventures together and perhaps the occasional splash in the water. That wasn't Lisa's life. Instead, she spent her time chained in a yard, neglected and badly treated. She was eventually abandoned and is known to have had at least one litter of puppies without the security, care or loving home she deserved, but Lisa survived and now, finally, she is safe.
Personality
Considering everything she has experienced, Lisa's gentle nature is quite remarkable.
Understandably, she can be a little fearful in some situations, but she is a warm, affectionate and sociable girl who has responded beautifully to kindness since coming into rescue. When Lisa feels threatened, her response has been to make herself small and wait for the situation to pass rather than confront it. She hasn't shown aggressive behaviour towards people while in our care, she has also been sociable with the animals she has met and has done well around other dogs and cats.
Lisa isn't an especially high-energy dog, but she's still young and has so much of life left to discover. We would love to see what happens when this gentle girl is given the security and encouragement to truly come out of her shell.
Lisa's perfect home
Lisa could potentially suit either an active household or a quieter way of life. What's far more important to her is how that home makes her feel, she needs kindness, consistency, patience and security.
A family who will give her time to settle and never make her afraid of the people around her, people who will introduce her to all the ordinary things she should have experienced long ago; comfortable beds, enjoyable walks, playtime, affection and simply being included.
Lisa has already survived the part of her story that she never should have had to experience. Now we'd like her to discover what being someone's beloved pet was supposed to mean all along.
