Meet Lucy
Lucy arrived as an 8-month-old puppy. Five years later, she's still waiting for someone to take her home.
Lucy was rescued from a local dump with her mum in 2021, her mother is a Turkish Kangal, and little Lucy grew into a rather magnificent girl herself, today she weighs around 40kg and certainly has the presence to match. But behind that impressive exterior is an incredibly sweet, affectionate girl who loves people and has spent far too much of her life waiting.
Personality
Lucy is a loving, sociable and joyful girl who enjoys being around people and forms strong bonds with those who care for her. She's affectionate, warm and loves having company.
Lucy also enjoys playing with other dogs and has grown up around them during her years at the boarding house, and although she may be a substantial 40kg girl, there's a wonderfully gentle side to Lucy too.
She's spent almost her entire life being cared for in boarding, so the people and dogs around her have become her world. What she hasn't had is a family and home of her own.
Lucy's perfect home
Because of Lucy's size, she needs a family who are comfortable and confident with large dogs and understand the practicalities that come with having a 40kg companion.
After growing up in a boarding environment, some aspects of everyday home life may also be completely new to her. She'll need people who are patient while she adjusts, learns new routines and discovers what living in a home actually means.
What we already know is that Lucy has so much to offer in return, affection, companionship and five years' worth of love that's never had a family of its own.
Lucy was a puppy when she arrived, she grew up there, year after year passed, and somehow nobody has chosen her.
We don't want Lucy to spend another year waiting to find out what home feels like.
