Meet Maisie
Maisie doesn't give her trust away immediately. But when she gives it to you, it means everything.
Maisie's story began when we found her injured and in desperate need of help, she had been badly treated by people and had become tangled in wire around one of her back legs.
We were able to get Maisie the treatment she needed, her wounds healed, and today she is happy and healthy. For too long, Maisie was either invisible to people or let down by them.
Now she's safe, and we're looking for the person who can show her just how different life can be.
Personality
Maisie is 4 years old and, understandably after her experiences, she can take a little time to trust someone new. She isn't the dog who will necessarily fall into a stranger's arms at first meeting, and that's okay. Maisie needs the opportunity to get to know you at her own pace, give her that time and you'll discover a completely different girl underneath.
Maisie is warm, intelligent and full of personality, with a wonderful sense of humour. Once you've earned her trust, she forms a deep bond with her people and has the potential to be an incredibly loving, loyal and fun companion.
Maisie's perfect home
Maisie needs a quiet, experienced home where she can be the only pet. She's looking for someone who understands that trust sometimes has to be earned rather than expected, someone who won't rush her and will give her the time and space she needs to feel secure.
Patience. Consistency. Kindness. And, above all, love.
Maisie may ask a little more of her person at the beginning, but for the right person, watching her learn that she is finally safe will make that relationship all the more special, she has already learned what it's like when humans let her down.
Now she needs someone who can show her what it's like when they don't.
