Meet Malena
Malena's story began with one stranger choosing not to walk away.
Her name means “the little one”, and although Malena is no longer particularly little, there is still something wonderfully gentle and delicate about her nature. Malena was found after being hit by a car, an elderly woman witnessed what had happened and, despite having very little herself, refused to leave her without help. She took Malena to a veterinary clinic and made sure this frightened, injured young dog was given a chance, that one act of kindness changed Malena's life.
Malena had suffered fractures to both legs and surgery wasn't an option, instead, her legs were placed in casts and given time to heal. And heal they did.
Throughout everything she went through, Malena showed remarkable resilience. Slowly, the injured little dog who had been brought into the clinic recovered and blossomed into the loving, gentle and affectionate girl she is today, now she's ready for the next part of her story.
Personality
Malena has a calm, kind nature and enjoys affection and companionship, she gets along beautifully with other dogs and is comfortable around cats, and her easygoing personality means she could adapt well to different kinds of home.
There is a lovely gentleness about Malena, she doesn't need life to be complicated, she needs somewhere she can feel secure, people she can trust and all the ordinary comforts of finally belonging to a family.
Malena's perfect home
Malena is looking for someone who will love her for exactly who she is, someone who will give her the safety and connection she once had to rely on a stranger to provide. Someone who will make sure she never again has to wonder whether anybody will stop and help.
In return, Malena offers affection, loyalty, companionship and that wonderfully gentle spirit that survived everything life threw at her. Her story started with one person's act of kindness, perhaps the next one will end with someone choosing to take her home.
