Meet Sofia
Sofia watched all four of her puppies find their families. More than two years later, their mum is still waiting for hers.
When Sofia first came into rescue, she wasn't alone, she was caring for four tiny puppies, doing everything she could to keep them fed and safe. The whole little family was brought into care, and in time each of Sofia's puppies grew up and went on to find a home. We always hoped their mum's turn would follow, but somehow, more than two years have passed and Sofia is still waiting.
Personality
Now around 4 years old, Sofia is a beautiful large-breed mix with a wonderfully gentle, affectionate nature. She loves people and enjoys attention, happily leaning in for affection whenever it's offered, she's a calm, loving girl who has spent a long time watching people and dogs come and go from the rescue, and she's more than ready to be the one who gets to leave next.
Sofia gets along well with other dogs and could potentially share her home with a compatible resident dog. She has not yet been tested with cats, so we don't currently know whether she could live with them. A cat assessment is planned, and her profile can be updated once we know more.
Sofia's perfect home
Sofia is looking for people who want a large, affectionate companion to become part of their family. After more than two years in rescue, moving into a home will be a big change. She'll need time to adjust to new routines and experiences, and people who understand that settling in doesn't always happen overnight. What she already knows how to do is love being around people, she'd enjoy affection, companionship, walks and finally having somewhere she can begin to recognise as her own. A favourite place to sleep, a familiar daily routine, people she doesn't have to watch walk away again.
Sofia's four puppies have been living their new lives for a long time now. We think it's well past time their mum got to start hers.
