Meet Willow
Willow is happiest when she's close to her people, preferably with plenty of attention coming her way.
Willow was found at a local dump in 2021. At the time, she looked very much like a dog who had known life around people before, although we'll never know exactly how she came to be there. What we do know is that Willow hasn't lost her love of human company.
Now approximately 5 years old, she's grown into a wonderfully affectionate girl who would love nothing more than to finally have people of her own.
Personality
Willow is loving, loyal and very people-focused, she actively seeks out attention, enjoys being close to her humans and has a lovely affectionate nature. She's also very good with children and would enjoy being part of family life.
Willow walks nicely on the lead too, making everyday walks with her a pleasure.
She's not a girl who wants to live life at a distance from her family. Willow wants to be involved, included and, ideally, somewhere close enough to receive regular fuss.
Willow can get along well with other dogs, but she's a girl who knows her own mind!
She particularly enjoys the company of larger male dogs and will happily play with them, although she does occasionally like to give the impression that she's in charge. For that reason, Willow could be very happy as the only dog in her home, where she can enjoy having her people to herself.
Alternatively, she could potentially live with a calm, compatible larger male dog, subject to the right match.
A little something different about Willow
Willow has cropped ears and crooked front legs, giving her a rather distinctive appearance.
Her ears had already been cropped before she came into our care, and we don't know when, why or in what circumstances this was done. We also don't know for certain what caused her front legs to develop as they have, but importantly, Willow doesn't let them stop her enjoying life. She moves around comfortably, enjoys her walks and gets on with the important business of being Willow.
Neither her ears nor her legs define this lovely girl , they're simply part of the Willow we know today.
Willow's cropped ears may affect where she is able to travel in the future, rules around the international movement of dogs with cropped ears are changing in some countries, including Great Britain, which means Willow's options for finding a home in the UK may become more restricted. That's why we're particularly keen to find Willow's family now.
We won't compromise on finding her the right home, but if you're in the UK and think Willow might be your girl, please don't assume she'll always have the same opportunity to travel there that she has today.
Willow's perfect home
Willow is looking for a stable, loving home where she can finally enjoy what she values most: being part of a family. She'd love regular walks, plenty of human company and people who appreciate an affectionate dog who likes to stay close.
She could enjoy having all the attention as an only dog, or potentially share her home with the right larger male companion. Most importantly, Willow needs people who will see beyond the things that make her look a little different.
She may have been found at a dump, she may have slightly wonky legs and cropped ears, but spend some time with Willow and those quickly become some of the least interesting things about her.
What you'll remember is the lovely girl who just wants to be beside you.
