Meet Winnie
If your idea of a good day involves fresh air, muddy paws, water and a dog who's ready for whatever adventure comes next, Winnie would very much like to meet you.
When Winnie first arrived at the shelter, she was uncertain and needed time to find her feet. With patience, care and plenty of encouragement, that uncertain girl gradually began to disappear, and the Winnie we know today? She's joyful, playful, affectionate and absolutely full of life.
Personality
Winnie is a Labrador-sized girl with a big personality and an even bigger enthusiasm for enjoying herself. She loves being active; running, exploring, playing and, in true Lab-like fashion, getting into water whenever the opportunity presents itself.
She's also very people-orientated and forms strong bonds with the humans she loves. Winnie thrives on companionship and attention and would be happiest in a home where she can be properly involved in family life rather than watching it from the sidelines. After seeing how far she's come, it's wonderful to watch her throw herself into life with so much enthusiasm.
Winnie can enjoy the company of other dogs, particularly younger, playful dogs who are comfortable with her energy, however, she can become jealous or territorial around her person, so although she can socialise with other dogs, we feel Winnie would be happiest and easiest to manage as the only resident dog in her home. That way she doesn't have to share the thing she values most, her people!
Winnie has also done well around cats, she can sometimes chase them in an attempt to play rather than to harm them, so any home with a cat would need sensible introductions, supervision and a cat confident enough to cope with her enthusiasm.
Winnie's perfect home
Winnie needs an active home with plenty of space to enjoy life. A home with a good-sized, secure garden would be wonderful for her, and we think she'd particularly love a more rural setting or somewhere with easy access to open spaces where she can enjoy plenty of outdoor adventures.
She could live with children aged 10+ who are comfortable around an energetic, playful dog.
Her ideal family will enjoy getting outside, have plenty of time for her and understand that underneath all that exuberance is a girl who bonds very strongly with her people.
Winnie isn't looking for a quiet life, she's looking for walks, water, playtime, adventures, a family to adore, and somewhere to come home to afterwards.
For the right people, Winnie won't simply join the family, she'll throw herself into being part of it with everything she's got. 💛
