BECOME A FOSTER

A temporary home can make a lifelong difference.

Not every dog needs a forever home straight away. Sometimes, they simply need somewhere safe to stay, a little stability and someone willing to give them the time and kindness they deserve.

Fostering is one of the most valuable ways you can support Pawpers in the Ruff. By opening your home to a rescue dog, even temporarily, you can help them experience family life, build confidence and take the next steps towards a happier future.

Whether you're interested in fostering one of our dogs currently waiting in Macedonia, or you'd like to be someone we can call upon when an unexpected situation arises here in the UK, we'd love to hear from you.

Foster a Dog Waiting for Their Forever Home

For many of our dogs in Macedonia, life has meant months or even years in kennels. Although they are safe and cared for, what they are missing is the opportunity to experience the everyday comforts of a home.

A foster home can offer so much more than somewhere to sleep. It gives a dog the opportunity to become familiar with household routines, experience home comforts and receive individual attention, helping us learn more about their personality and what sort of permanent home would suit them.

Some of our dogs could particularly benefit from spending time in a foster home before adoption, and we've highlighted a few of them below.

However, fostering isn't limited to these dogs. If you've seen another dog on our website that you'd love to help, but you're not in a position to adopt permanently, we'd still welcome your enquiry.

Bringing a dog from Macedonia into a UK foster home involves significant transport and preparation costs, which we would need to fundraise to cover. For this reason, these placements are less common and depend on the individual dog's circumstances and the funds available.

How to apply

If you're interested in fostering, please complete our usual adoption application form for the dog you're interested in, making it clear that you're applying to foster rather than adopt.

Our team will discuss your circumstances, the individual dog's needs and whether fostering would be a suitable option.

Emergency and Short-Term Fostering

As well as helping dogs currently waiting in Macedonia, there are times when we urgently need foster homes for dogs who are already in the UK.

Sometimes, despite everyone's best efforts, things don't go quite as planned. An adoption may not work out, a family's circumstances may change, or a dog may unexpectedly need somewhere safe to stay while alternative arrangements are made.

In these situations, having a network of potential foster homes can make an enormous difference.

We're hoping to build a community of people across the UK who may be willing to offer temporary care when these situations arise.

You don't need to be available all the time, and registering your interest doesn't commit you to taking a dog.

We understand that every home is different, and whether you can help will depend on your circumstances, existing pets, experience and the needs of the individual dog.

Some people may be able to offer a few days of emergency care, while others might be comfortable fostering for several weeks. Some may only be able to accommodate smaller dogs, older dogs or those with particular needs.

All of this information helps us identify potentially suitable foster homes when we need them most.

Could You Be Part of Our Foster Network?

We're inviting anyone who may be interested in offering emergency or short-term fostering to join our potential foster contact list.

By completing our expression-of-interest form, you'll help us understand where you're based, what type of fostering you might consider and the circumstances in which you could potentially help.

If a dog needs support in your area, we may contact you to discuss the situation and see whether fostering could be an option.

There is absolutely no obligation to say yes.

Every potential placement would be considered individually, and we'd discuss the dog's needs, your circumstances and the support available before any arrangements were made.

Register Your Interest

If you think you might be able to help, we'd love to hear from you.

Please complete the form below to join our potential foster network.

Registering your interest is not a formal foster application or approval. All placements are subject to appropriate checks, individual assessment and agreement with the Pawpers team.

Meet Our Featured Foster Dogs

These are some of the dogs we feel could particularly benefit from experiencing life in a home while they wait for their forever families.

Each has their own personality, story and needs, but all would welcome the opportunity for some individual attention, stability and the chance to experience everyday family life.

Could you be the person to give one of them that opportunity?

Basil

Basil can be a little shy when he first meets someone new, he likes a little time to work things out, but once he begins to feel comfortable, he warms to human affection.
