Marko

Marko’s story is a heartbreaking one. He was taken from people who bred his mother and abandoned the rest of the litter in the middle of nowhere. Marko alone was kept, only because he was born with a short tail, which they believed might make him “good for hunting.”
At 7 months old, it was decided he wasn’t “good enough.” That’s when we found him.
When Marko first came to us, he was terrified of everything. Sudden movements made him freeze and shake. A hand holding an object was enough to make him drop to the ground in fear. It told us everything we needed to know about the life he had endured until then.
Today, Marko is a different dog. He is learning to trust, he enjoys playtime, and he is a happy, very active one-year-old boy who is slowly discovering what safety and kindness mean.
Marko is a Brittany cross, and true to the breed, he uses his nose a lot and loves to stay engaged. Despite being severely neglected and underfed during his first months, he has no food aggression and is comfortable with people around his meals.
Because of his past and his breed traits, Marko will do best as a single pet in a home with someone who has experience with active, intelligent hunting-type dogs and understands the importance of structure, patience, and positive training. He missed out on guidance early in life, and that’s exactly what he needs now.
What Marko needs most is someone who will finally choose him -not for what he can do, but for who he is.
With the right person, Marko has the potential to become an incredibly loyal, loving companion.
If you believe you could be that person, Marko is waiting.
